LetterCult

I keep finding links to a new resource called LetterCult. They are definitely doing some PR. They're mission statement: LetterCult is our attempt to highlight artists & designers doing remarkable work with Custom Letters. This group includes type designers, letterers, sign painters, graffiti artists, stone carvers, calligraphers, poster artists, and graphic designers. Just people. Who make letters.

The Martha Stewart Living September 2008 issue features quite a bit of stenciled lettering, not just as projects to do, but on the cover and in the page layouts. I couldn't find a better image than this one, hopefully you can flip through it next time you're waiting in the grocery check out line.

Lizzie Fortunato Jewels

I found a post about Lizzie Fortunato Jewels newest collection yesterday on fly as well. I love finding random lost personal items on the street… missing earrings, charms, watches, etc… and these necklaces remind me of those. And they're unique enough that somoene wouldn't have one just like it. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the most obvious thing - they use hand-lettering, or at least letters that seem that way.

Oh, man I found some good stuff yesterday, starting with Emily Eibel's stitched illustrations. Emily uses a mish-mosh of embroidery techniques and illustration skills to come up with her stitched illustrations. This is probably my favorite find lately, because I've recently taken up an interest in blackwork.
