Jessica Hische

I found Jessica Hische's website a while back, but after seeing a post yesterday on fly, I dug a little more and found Jessica's blog, featuring her most recent work.

LetterCult

I keep finding links to a new resource called LetterCult. They are definitely doing some PR. They're mission statement: LetterCult is our attempt to highlight artists & designers doing remarkable work with Custom Letters. This group includes type designers, letterers, sign painters, graffiti artists, stone carvers, calligraphers, poster artists, and graphic designers. Just people. Who make letters.

Martha, Martha, Martha

So, Martha Stewart's blog is having a bit of a blog contest/networking thing-ma-jig. Maybe I might get picked. But, no matter, I think it'd be a great way to have more interested readers find me.

Back to School

Today is the first day of school at UC, where I will be teaching a interface design class. Which reminds me of a post I saw over at a design affair about back-to-school store windows using chalk boards.

Miller Cormier

I’m proud to announce my new business – Miller Cormier!

I have teamed with fellow designer and close friend, Sara Cormier, to form the design partnership Miller Cormier. Together we can do most any kind of design work you might need: brand identity, wedding invitations, promotions, advertising, websites, banner ads and more. This isn't totally self-promotion… our site integrates quite a bit of hand lettering, my hand writing to be exact. I hope you will visit us: www.millercormier.com

Jenna Hein: Calligraphy

One of the posts from Kids and Cocktails that stands out to me, is about Jenna Hein. She has some beautiful hand lettering.

Kids & Cocktails: Calligraphy

I came across a new blog last week, Kids and Cocktails, where Kate posts about a lot of things, but she has a little bit of a sweet spot for calligraphy. When you've got some time, run over to Kids and Cocktails and check out all of her calligraphy posts.

Ben Galbraith: The Three Fishing Brothers Gruff

When I see things like this, I wonder, what am I doing? why am I not making children's books! I found this book, The Three Fishing Brothers Gruff by New Zealand based Ben Galbraith over at book by it's cover.

All you need is ________?

All you need is a crazy girl dressed in bright yellow? I like that the phrase is cut off for you to imagine what it could be.

Carter Kustera @ Jonathan Adler

I'm sure these Carter Kustera silhouettes have made the blog rounds long ago… but I thought they were worth mentioning again because of the hand scribbled descriptions of the person. Funny. Information for ordering is available on Jonathan Adler site.

The Selby

I'm not sure I understand what The Selby is all about, but their hand drawn/painted logo is worth a look.

Martha Stewart Living September 2008

The Martha Stewart Living September 2008 issue features quite a bit of stenciled lettering, not just as projects to do, but on the cover and in the page layouts. I couldn't find a better image than this one, hopefully you can flip through it next time you're waiting in the grocery check out line.

Linda & Harriett Stationery

Cards and custom invitations that incorporate hand-lettering. I'm impressed at how how easily they combined type with handwriting. Check out the Linda & Harriett website, and blog.

mystery illustrator @ John Derian

I found this little sample of hand-drawn type over at John Derian. Looks like there's an illustrator's mark on it, but I can't read it… anyone know who it might be?

Jason Polan's 20x200 print

This week's 20x20 Tuesday edition is a piece by Jason Polan, featuring hand-written text.

Stan VanDerBeek

I found this Stan VanDerBeek piece on Reference Library yesterday.

Lizzie Fortunato Jewels

I found a post about Lizzie Fortunato Jewels newest collection yesterday on fly as well. I love finding random lost personal items on the street… missing earrings, charms, watches, etc… and these necklaces remind me of those. And they're unique enough that somoene wouldn't have one just like it. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the most obvious thing - they use hand-lettering, or at least letters that seem that way.

Emily Eibel

Oh, man I found some good stuff yesterday, starting with Emily Eibel's stitched illustrations. Emily uses a mish-mosh of embroidery techniques and illustration skills to come up with her stitched illustrations. This is probably my favorite find lately, because I've recently taken up an interest in blackwork.
