urban outfitters: catalog font

I received this catalog from Urban Outfitters the other day. I thought the font they used was pretty interesting. (and hand drawn inspired). It has a very unique feel to it, but clearly has some legibility issues. I have always wanted to work on a brand where they can do riskier, not legible and not universally excepted as pretty looking solutions. ahhhh, some day!

Funnel: Green Genes

I found this identity system for Green Genes (designed by Funnel) on the dieline. The typeface is hand-drawn inspired. Thought it had a cool grade school feel to it. Can anyone ID the font?

Insite: Five Rows Craft Wine

Having a form label that's filled in by hand (or to look like it's filled in by hand) is nothing new, this is a great example of that idea.

Vere Foster's Copy Book: No. 10 – Ornamental Lettering

My mom gave me a Vere Foster's Copy Book for my birthday a few months back. It's an old-fashioned penmanship school book used in England, Scotland and Ireland. It's number 10 in the series - Ornamental Lettering. I think she got it at the Sauder's general store .

Letter from Europe

Back when I was in college I did the whole backpacking trip to Europe. And of course was pickpocketed in Prague. Someone returned my IDs in the mail, this is the letter they sent me… I post this because I think it is really interesting that European handwriting looks different than U.S. handwriting. How is that? (I don't live at that address, so I think it's safe to post)

Eggos: print ad

I spent some of my lazy vacation time flipping through my old magazines and sending them off to the recycling. I noticed quite a few eggo ads featuring this font that is hand-drawn inspired. Can anyone ID the font?

2009: year of the scanner

Happy New Year! As a Christmas present for myself/my business, I bought a scanner during the holidays. It will make posting finds to the blog a whole lot easier. I'm going to spend this week catching up on a few items that have been waiting to be shared for a while. First up, some handwriting found in Domino magazine's 2008 holiday gift guide.
